Are you interested in keeping in touch with what events are going on to support teaching and learning in Geography, Earth and Environmental sciences? Discipline-based information can be accessed through THE GEES network LinkedIn page. The LinkedIn group has been set up and is managed by academics. It is a great way to receive information and to also take part in (or lurk on) teaching-focused discussions.
In July 2012 a group of GEES academics interested in education got together to discuss how we could support each other in our professional and career development and THE (Teaching-focused in Higher Education) GEES network was established. We are a network which exists online (using LinkedIn) and through meetings. We met most recently in Manchester where we had a writing retreat and a workshop that covered HEA accreditation, funding and publication of pedagogic research, mentoring, and career progression. We will be organising our next meeting for June 2015 and would love to hear about what you would be interested being covered.
Teaching-focused is a term we take to mean people interested in teaching and pedagogic research, be they on permanent or temporary, teaching-dominant or more traditional academic contracts. Please do search us out on LinkedIn and join our discussions to share information about teaching relevant activities.
